Our Mission at River of Life:

  • Serve God

by centering our lives around Jesus Christ and the truth of His gospel and equipping men and women with the understanding of God’s call.

  • Serve Each Other

by encouraging one another in word and deed, committing ourselves to each other.

  • Serve the World Around Us

by demonstrating the love of God, which has been performed in our lives, bringing hope and help to people everywhere through Jesus Christ by leading them to faith by salvation through Jesus Christ and in this way, WE SERVE GOD.

What we believe:

  • One True God, Jehovah

Without beginning, existing eternally as three persons, namely the Father, Jesus Christ the Son and the Holy Spirit. God alone is omnipotent, omnipresent, and omniscient.

    (Matthew 28:19, 1 John 5:7)

  • The Father

The righteous judge, seated on the throne, eternally living in heaven.

    (Luke 3:22, 1 Corinthians 8:6, Revelation 3:21)

  • Jesus Christ, The Son

Born of a virgin, His uncreated existence and deity, His earthly ministry and sinless life, His vicarious death and atonement through His blood at Calvary, His bodily resurrection, His ascension into heaven, His present ministry and His coming again in power.

    (Matthew 1:23, Luke 24:36-43, John 1:1-3, Acts 1:11, 1 Corinthians 15:3-4, Hebrews 4:14-16, Hebrews 9:12, Revelation 19:11-16)

  • The Holy Spirit

His personality and deity, His work in each believer, His indwelling at the moment of regeneration and filling to empowerment for Christian life and service. All believers should earnestly seek the promise of the Father, the baptism of the Holy Ghost according to the command of our Lord Jesus Christ. With it comes the enduement of power for life and service. This wonderful experience is distinct and subsequent to the experience of the new birth. The baptism of believers in the Holy Ghost is evidenced by the speaking with other tongues as the Spirit of God gives utterance. The speaking in tongues, in this instance, is the same in essence as the gift of tongues, but different in purpose and use, and all is received by faith. The bestowment of the gifts and their uses is the work of the Holy Spirit.

    (Luke 24:49, John 16:7-15, Acts 1:4-5,8, 2:4, 5:3-4,10:44-48, 11:15-18, 15:7-9, Romans 8:9, 1 Corinthians 12:1-31, Ephesians 5:18)

  • Satan

His existence and personality as the great adversary of God and His people, his judgment and final doom.

    (John 12:31, Revelation 12:1-10, Revelation 20:10)

  • Man

His direct creation in the image of God, being made in three parts, spirit, soul and body, his subsequent fall into sin resulting in spiritual death and the necessity of the new birth for his salvation.

    (Genesis 1:26-28, 3:1-24, John 3:3-5, Romans 5:12, 1 Thessalonians 5:23, Hebrews 4:12)

  • Sin

Disobedience of the laws of God, which results in separation from God and the curse that all mankind is subsequently born into.

    (Romans 3:23, 6:23, 1 John 3:4)

  • Salvation

A complete and eternal salvation by God’s grace alone, received as the gift of God through repentance and personal faith in the Lord Jesus Christ and His finished work on the cross. Confession and repentance are required for salvation.

    (Matthew 10:32-33, Acts 2:38, 3:19, Romans 10:9-10, 2 Corinthians 7:10, Ephesians 2:8-9, Titus 3:5-6, 1 Peter 1:18-19)

  • The Bible

The only inspired Word of God including all 66 books of the Old and New Testaments, verbally inspired in all parts, and therefore wholly without error as originally given by God.

    (2 Timothy 3:16, 2 Peter 1:21)

  • Water Baptism

Water baptism by the immersion is a direct commandment of our Lord and is for believers only. This ordinance is a symbol of the Christian’s identification with Christ in His death, burial, and resurrection. The following is a recommendation regarding water baptism and the terminology for it: “On the confession of your faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, the Son of God, and by His authority, I baptize you in the name of the Father, Son, and the Holy Ghost.”

    (Matthew 28:19, Acts 8:36-39, Romans 6:4, Colossians 2:12)

  • The Church

The church is the body of Christ. The Christian church consists of believers in Jesus Christ who have repented of their sins, who have accepted Jesus Christ by faith and are born again, and are striving by God’s grace to live a holy and obedient life. (John 3:3,6-7, Ephesians 4:4, 1 Corinthians 12:12)

We believe the church is to be governed by the five-fold ministry outlined in Ephesians 4:11-13, namely the apostle, prophet, evangelist, pastor, and teacher. These are trusted individuals who present their input to the leadership of the church which consists of pastors, elders, and deacons.

  • Believer's Authority

    (Luke 10:17-20, Ephesians 6:11-18, James 4:7, 1 Peter 5:8-10)

  • Divine Healing

Physical healing is in Christ’s atonement and is available to all believers through faith in the name of Jesus Christ. Ministry to the sick includes anointing with oil, laying on of hands and the prayer of faith.

    (Isaiah 53:4-5, Matthew 8:17, Mark 16:18, James 5:14-20, 1 Peter 2:24)

  • Future Life

Conscious existence of the dead, the resurrection of the body, the judgment of unbelievers, the eternal life of the saved and the eternal punishment of the lost.

    (Matthew 25:46, Luke 16:19-31, John 3:16, 5:28-29, Revelation 20:11-15)
